It's that time of year again! On November 5th, 2011 Port Hardy Baptist Church and Port McNeill Baptist Church will be co-hosting the "Create for a Cause" fundraiser for the Gazette Hamper Fund.

Where: Port Hardy Baptist Church (on the corner of Highland Dr. and Trustee Rd.)
When: November 5th from 10:00 am - 8:00 pm
Registration Fee: $5 plus a suggested donation of $15 or non-perishable food or toys
Who: We have space for 45 adults and 15 youth (ages 10-16)

Registering for this event ensures table space to work on your own paper crafting projects, cards or scrapbooks. Participants are asked to bring their own paper, adhesives, embellishments and tools.

Included in the cost of the event:

Goodie bags and door prizes!
A variety of challenges with fantastic prizes!
An assortment of paper crafting tools to be used at the event!

Come for the whole day or part of the day. We look forward to crafting with you and raising money and awareness for a fantastic local charity - the Gazette Hamper Fund.

This year we will be offering 5 classes. Because of our change in location limited space is available for the classes, you must register early. Classes will fill up quickly!

1. 2012 Flip Over Calendar with Danita Schmidt - $6 (Picture to be posted).

2. Three Christmas Cards with Margaret Page - $5

3. Two Page Christmas Scrapbook Layout with Angela Krawietz - $10 (Picture to be posted).

4. Gift Tin and Christmas Tags with Michelle Sedola - $8

5. Winter Wreath with Lauren Martineau - $8 (Picture to be posted).

In addition to a fun day of working on your own projects we will be hosting several workshops to participate in for an additional cost.

Glitteritz Christmas Card (3) Class taught by Angela Krawietz and will be offered multiple times throughout the day. The cost of this class is included in your registration fee.

2nd Annual Create for a Cause Fundraising Event

Mark your calendar! October 24th, 2009, Port Hardy Baptist Church and Port McNeill Baptist Church will be co-hosting the 2nd Annual Create for a Cause Fundraising Event benefiting the Gazette Hamper Fund at the Port Hardy Civic Center. Last year, over 50 ladies from Port Hardy, Port McNeill, Woss, Holberg and Port Alice participated in this all day papercrafting event. This year there will be more classes, fun challenges, loads of prizes and lots of opportunities to connect with other papercrafters all over the north island. The best part of the day was that we raised nearly $500 and a huge pile of food and toys were donated to the Gazette Hamper Fund which exists to serve families in our neighbourhoods. We would be honored if you would join us again this year as we meet to craft and to raise support for a worthy north island cause. Check this site often as information will be added regarding classes and registration. We look forward to seeing you in October!

What is the Gazette Hamper Fund?

Teresa Bird from the North Island Gazette provided me with some information regarding the Fund. For the last 28 years the Gazette Hamper Fund has provided families with hampers that contain a complete Christmas dinner (including a turkey and all the trimmings), age appropriate gifts and candy for children and extra food items for the family pantry.

In 2007 the fund raised almost $27,000 and provided 365 hampers to need families on the North Island from Woss to Port Hardy and from Kingcome Inlet to Zeballos.

I think most people who live on the North Island are aware of the Gazette Hamper Fund. It provides a valuable service to our communities. I've got to say I was surprised when I heard how many hampers went out last year! What a huge undertaking and one that requires donations from individuals like you and me.

Create for a Cause is an opportunity to get involved! Make sure you register and plan to be a part of this unique fund raising event.
